Deadlines Extended to May 15 for FALL Launch of 2020 WILL Empower Apprenticeships

WILL Empower has extended the deadlines to May 15 for applications for its 2020 Apprenticeship Program and for potential host sites, and is preparing for a September start for its nationwide apprenticeships.

The program may revise this launch date as needed, and is working with host sites to offer them maximum flexibility on start and end dates.

“Although everyone finds it difficult to plan in these tumultuous times, we’re looking forward to building for the future and seeding the next generation of the workers’ justice movement, starting with the fall apprenticeships,” said Lane Windham, WILL Empower co-director.  “There’s a lot of hope in continuing to build the base for workers’ justice.”

The WILL Empower (Women Innovating Labor Leadership) Apprenticeship Program is a paid opportunity for recent college graduates and rank-and-file activists to explore what it’s like to work for the labor and workers’ justice movement, and to gain the skills and knowledge needed to begin making a difference.

Past host sites have included: Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA); Bargaining for the Common Good; Campus Workers United / CWA; International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT); Jobs with Justice; Jobs to Move America; Memphis Central Labor Council; NC State AFL-CIO; Street Vendor Project; UNITE HERE Local 25.

Consider applying to be a 2020 WILL Empower apprentice. Applications are now open, and are due May 15, 2020. Apprentices will begin work in September, 2020. Find out more here.

If your organization is interested in serving as a WILL Empower apprenticeship host site, please find out more information here on hosting an apprentice, and fill out the host site application form by May 15, 2020.
